How to Choose Silicone Wall Thickness for Shaped Candle Molds

Wall thickness affects support, demolding and the way a tall candle mold behaves during pouring. This guide explains the practical trade-off.

Start with the Shape, Not a Fixed Number

There is no single wall thickness that suits every candle mold. Height, base size, undercuts, texture and the way the operator handles the mold all change the requirement.

Support and Flexibility Pull in Opposite Directions

A flexible mold releases detailed wax more easily, but a mold that is too soft can open or bow under the weight of the pour. Taller pillar designs often benefit from stronger support zones around the base and long vertical walls.

Use Support Only Where It Adds Value

A rigid shell is useful when the geometry genuinely needs it. For many normal candle projects, a properly designed silicone wall is simpler and faster for daily production.

What to Send for Evaluation

A reference image, target finished size and expected order quantity are usually enough to start a first structural judgment. Deep undercuts or very large shapes may need a more detailed review.

Need a Project-Specific Answer?

If you already have a product reference, target size or capacity and estimated quantity, send the information with the inquiry. The recommendation can then be based on the actual production requirement rather than a generic rule.
